Emma Fick was born in Covington, Louisiana in 1991. After completing her degree in English Literature and Art History at the University of Alabama, she moved to Serbia to teach English on a Fulbright scholarship and began to chronicle its culture in a series of watercolor illustrations called “Snippets.”
Emma’s “snippets" illustrations caught on, and she was offered a book deal by a local Serbian publisher (Komshe) for her first book of illustrations, Snippets of Serbia (2015). That same year Fick returned to New Orleans and once again began drawing “snippets.” Many of these illustrations were published as “Neighborhood Guides” in the largest New Orleans newspaper, The Times Picayune, which led to a book contract with UL Press. Snippets of New Orleans was published in 2017.
Emma Fick’s latest book, Border Crossings: A Journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway, chronicling the longest train journey in the world, will be published by Harper Design in 2022.
